My Background

As an immigrant from India, I speak English, Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi. I have known since high school that I wanted to be a therapist, as it was the only career path that truly resonated with me. My investment in understanding myself has led me to do the deep work that I now support my clients through. I firmly believe in "buying what I'm selling," meaning I actively practice the principles I advocate for. As a lifelong learner, I remain curious about different techniques that can help settle both my nervous system and that of my clients, continually seeking ways to enhance our healing journeys together.

I hold a bachelor's degree from Clayton State University and a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania, with over 14 years of experience working with survivors of various forms of trauma, including sexual, physical, torture, and violent crimes. My approach focuses on helping clients identify what is working for them and guiding them in changing what isn’t, acting as a supportive ally on their journey to unlock their untapped resources. I employ techniques from Somatic Experiencing and Emotion-Focused Therapy to assist clients in gently processing their trauma. I deeply trust the intelligence of the body to facilitate healing and help clients connect with this inner wisdom, making them more available to the resources that reside within.

I completed my Somatic Experiencing training in 2016 and my Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) training in 2023. Additionally, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which I incorporate as needed. However, my primary focus remains on Somatic Experiencing and EFT, as these approaches resonate deeply with my therapeutic philosophy and the needs of my clients.

Education

University of Pennsylvania

I completed my master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania, where I gained invaluable knowledge through my first internship working with refugees. This experience deepened my understanding of trauma and resilience. Additionally, my training at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Pennsylvania provided me with a wealth of knowledge and practical skills that continue to inform my therapeutic practice.

Clayton State University

I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Human Services at Clayton State University, and I cherish the memories of my time as a student there. It was through my curiosity and the invaluable support of the faculty that I discovered what aspects of the work truly resonated with me. I realized that I had a passion for providing direct services, particularly in the realm of trauma and the healing journey that accompanies it. This exploration laid the foundation for my commitment to helping others navigate their experiences and find pathways to healing.
